The idea for Kotse came about during my Advanced UX class at Academy of Art. My role was to research and design this product to the best of my ability.
About
Kotse is a piece of technology that connects to your car and app. It allows the users to see real time data about their vehicle.

Problem Statement
Many people find cars intimidating. They find that with all the moving parts, it’s easy to make mistakes in fixing your car. Kotse wants to help users learn more about their vehicles. They want to help create a safer environment for them whilst driving.

Learnings

Most new car owners knew very little about their vehicles before purchasing them.

More often than not, most users interviewed found their car intimidating and didn’t trust themselves to do car maintenance. They really preferred certified mechanics do the job for them.

This assumption was proven to be correct. All users interviewed have gone through at least one car malfunction.
Solution
A futuristic device that plugs into the OBD-II port of a vehicle. It can identify the vehicle and gather data. The device connects to the users app. From there, the user can see any problems, learn how to fix any issues, and call a mobile mechanic.
